I've been a firefighter for almost 25 years with a large metropolitan fire department and have had many of my fellow firefighters ask me to make a bronze sculpture of a firefighter. I felt like doing something a little different than you might expect.
All of us have seen a garden hose spinning all over the yard with no one holding on to it. If you've ever seen a firefighting line "get away," it's quite a sight. "Under Control" depicts a young boy riding a fire-hose, like he was riding in the rodeo.
One of my goals is to sculpt a full size bronze fountain using "Under Control" and it's companion bronze, "Outa' Control", squirting water at each other and have it displayed in the front of a fire station. If any municipalities would like this for one of their fire stations please contact me.
